OVERVIEW

In honor of the late Bishop James E. McKnight, Sr. and in acknowledgment of his lifetime commitment to higher education, his family has established a scholarship fund for a graduating high school senior. The goal is to provide transitional and preparation assistance to a graduating high school student in the Church of God by Faith (COGBF) who was not awarded other COGBF scholarships.

The Bishop James E. McKnight, Sr. Memorial Scholarship aims to help defray the cost of essentials needed to start college which are normally out of the pocket expenses (such as funds to actually get to the college initially, startup money for food and other incidentals needed while the student await receipt of funds from primary scholarships). In providing this scholarship, the family seeks to ease the burden of students as they make preparation to begin their college career.

The recipient will be selected from the pool of applicants presented to the National COGBF Scholarship Committee annually. At least one family member will participate in the selection and awarding of the scholarship.

The student must not have been awarded any other COGBF scholarship. This is a one-time award payable directly to the student when the first semester’s registration is received by the COGBF Scholarship Committee. This scholarship will exist in perpetuity as long as the funds are available.
